Missangas & Co a story of passion, innovation and colors to enhance your look through fashion jewelry
Missangas is an ancient African word for small decorative objects made of natural material, mainly glass, crystal, ceramic or stones. They have small holes in the center, so that it is possible to join several pieces with the use of currents or threads.
Our origin
Missangas & Co emerged as a family project. In 2003, Bertha Unzueta and her 3 daughters Zurire, Kessy and Zimi opened a small store in Cascais (Lisbon) where they sold pieces for the assembly of jewelry and also accessories designed by them, with an atelier and customization service for customers.
The great triumph of Missangas&co's current popularity lies in the enormous variety of sizes and colors in which these pieces can be produced and their infinite number of uses.
The most common use is the manufacture of costume jewelry, mainly bracelets and necklaces, but glass beads can be used in the decoration of practically everything, from clothing and accessories to the layers of cell phones and tablets.
Considering the fact that beading may be the oldest art form in existence and that all organic sources, from bones to stones, were used early on by our ancestors, requiring skilled craftsmen to make them, mainly in all ancient civilizations.
At Missangas&co we are passionate about beads, so it is with great pleasure that we choose and bring to our collection the most beautiful beads and jewelry components that we happily find all over the world made by today's skilled artisans, in our opinion beadwork remains an important part of society even today, and the art and love of beading will remain an important part of every culture around the world, as every culture creativity form of expression.
Costume jewelry made with creativity.
"Creativity" is a word we use a lot at Missangas&co and as the word suggests, creativity is about creation. It is about using imagination to generate new ideas, a form of expression through jewelry making; Creativity is at the core of our values as a jewelry design company, and we practice it daily, it keeps our minds open, it keeps us positive and that is another value at Missangas&co,
We are a happy company by essence and that is what we try to express through our jewelry, as a way of non-verbally communicating a part of our personality, this is also what we like to encourage our clients to do, whether it is expressing their sensitive side by the use of floral print or indicating an extraverted personality driven by the use of an eye catching piece.
Here at Missangas&co, we like to encourage people to continue to express themselves through their personal jewelry choices and fashion sense, things like the feel of the fabric or texture, the sparkle of the jewelry or the finish of an accessory all have a big impact on individualism and feeling like "you".
By wearing jewelry that we love, we feel confident in ourselves and this is particularly important to us because one of our goals as a company is to empower people by guiding them and making them feel comfortable to try to express their inner creativity, even if they have never tried to make a piece on their own before, many customers feel surprised when they end up making beautiful pieces that they would have never imagined they were capable of making, and that for us is very rewarding.
The Peruvian origin of the founders, their closeness to craftsmanship, their travels around the world and the mix of cultures also helped them come up with the multicolored name Missangas&co, followed by the slogan Make it. Wear it. Love it... which is intended to convey the originality, diversity and joy of the brand.
